About those new Hybrids...

I was reading an article in the February issue of Popular Mechanics about the new Hybrid cars. (see page 72 and onward...) If you don't know hybrids work... this article gives an easy-to-understand explanation and shares a LOT of information in a easy to read fashion. They work great and really give great mileage if you do your part! That means that you have to "play the game" and drive them properly... otherwise you will not get the mileage you can! And, if you think that what is posted on the window of any car at any dealership is GOSPEL... well, go see a shrink! That Government sponsored information called "EPA Mileage" is garbage! Take one of those cars out and just drive it at legal speeds on the highway and in town. See what kind of mileage you REALLY get.

Driving any car on a chassis dynamometer will not give you (or anybody else) real world results! Maybe that's why we'll soon see better information? A little bird told me that all that "EPA Mileage" info would soon be history? Maybe??? In the 2008 timeframe! Why all the waiting... ? Why not NOW? Too much red tape to cut??? Probably!

I can tell you factually that my car went from the low 30's in MPG to the low 40's in MPG when I started using EnviroMax Plus in it. In town mileage still stinks but when I get on the highway (which is most of my driving) the car really stretches that gas out!

Just as soon as it gets warmer outside (my garage is full of junk!) I will be doing a few different things to hopefully squeeze MORE mileage from my car. And I'll publish the results here! And I am in communication with the owner of another car, like mine, who is also doing some testing to see just how much mileage he can get out of his car. He's looking for that 50 MPG mark and actually... so am I,,, and we'll keep you posted.
