Alternative Fuels and Cars for Today and Tomorrow

There are a LOT of people doing a LOT of research and development (R&D) work to become "The Answer" to our quest for affordable, non-polluting mass transportation and the "Quest" for higher Gas Mileage. Many different venues are being explored and new ones pop up all the time. Recently the Stylish Electic car, the Tesla, was unveiled. It has great range on batteries and accellerates something like a rocket! But this type of car, while not directly producing exhaust pollution, requires recharging and the source of that charge likely produces pollution of some type.

I've also made posts about the Hydrogen cars that are being tested around the country and I even got an UP Close and Personal encounter with one. I was impressed by the car but now that I think about it, there's a long way to go before any majority of the population will be driving Hydrogen Powered vehicles...

So, what's up next? One of the latest neat alternative fueled vehicles to hit the Auto Shows is the American Roadster from Eco-fueler. It was at the recent Los Angeles Auto Show and created a lot of interest. Power? CNG! If you live in-or-near a major metropolitan area, you probably see commuter busses powered by CNG. That's right... Compressed Natural Gas. Mileage? The website stats quote 70 miles per gallon (equivalent) on CNG.

Oh yes, this vehicle is Made in the USA. Right up in Oregon! So don't give up yet. There are solutions and we just have to get to THE answer. Petroleum based fuels are definitely not THE answer we need! Or want! Just something to get us to the NEXT STEP!
