Is it Spring already?

Oh my gosh! It's almost Mother's Day and I haven't even had my cooling system backflushed yet! Have you? You do know that's a GOOD thing to do each Spring (or at least every other Spring) don't you? And the reason??? Think about it!

How often have you driven around and seen cars along the side of the road with their hood up and steam coming out in droves??? Do you want to be one of them? If not, it's time to check that cooling system! And while you're at it, how long has it been since ANY of those hoses were replaced?

Some of us (speaking from experience) wait until we're FORCED to do these things and that can, in some cases, cost you FAR more than the price of the parts, materials and the labor involved! Have you ever seen a car alongside the road that's on FIRE? Want one of those? I didn't think so...

Onward and Upwards...

Now that Spring is Officially here and most of the United States is in agreement, weather wise, what do your tires look like? OK... I know they're round and hopefully there's some tread on them. Real question: If you live where snow tires are mandatory so that you can get where you're going... is it time to take them off and get your summer tires on? And...do you need NEW Summer tires? If so, I'd recommend a visit to my favorite Tire Store! These guys deliver the tires right to your door and you simply take them to anywhere you want and have them installed. Often, part of the purchase price includes a "gift card" that covers the mounting and balancing of your new treads! That is, if you don't go to the "high end" mounting and balancing salon!

Since it was Winter... did you need an oil change and you put it off due to the weather? Hot Summer conditions require LOTS of cooling and there's nothing like some FRESH oil in your engine (with a NEW filter) to help keep it cool! Don't procrastinate. DO IT! And while you're at it... using the BEST lubricants and filters can help with that "mileage thing" that everyone is talking about these days. Even the President want's all of us to get better mileage so just Do It!

We recommend AMSOIL lubricants and filters! They're the VERY best that you can buy and after all, you do want to protect that expensive investment you made in that car of yours, don't ya?

O.K... it's Officially Spring. Fix up your car and then go enjoy the nice weather!

Have a Great Spring and Summer!

How's that OLDER car of yours running?

Are you the owner of an older car? Maybe more than three (3) years old? If you are, you're fast becoming the norm in today's economy!

Does your car get the gas mileage that it should? If not there are some things that YOU can do to help!

Are your TIRES in good condition? Need new tires and think you can't afford them? Think again!

Visit www.BoostYourMileage.com for sources and solutions.

Over the past years we have been taught to buy a car, use it up and then get rid of it for another one. With the current economy and the high prices of most everything… that is no longer a viable option for the majority of us on the planet.

With options offered at our website, you can likely double the mileage of the car you're currently driving for very little money, especially if you like to tinker and are mechanically inclined. If not, your mechanic would probably love to learn the techniques we offer.

For those aging tires of yours, replacements can come to you at YOUR home! I purchased the tires that are on the car I drive every day from the website of my favorite tire store. They sent them to me via UPS and I had the local WalMart service center mount and balance them for me. The $50 gift card that came with the tires (part of a sweet deal) paid for the mounting and balancing! Learn more at my website - www.BoostYourMileage.com

If you're looking to make your car's engine last a LOT longer than you had originally planned, then you should start using the BEST lubricants available in that engine. We recommend AMSOIL because it IS the BEST that money can buy. Race car drivers use it all the time. The stickers on the outside of the car may promote another brand… but if you only knew… there's likely to be AMSOIL in the engine of that race car!

So, get on over to www.BoostYourMileage.com and take a look around. There's a lot of good information there to take advantage of!

If you're a "techno-geek" you'll love this...

I was just looking around on my computer and clicked a technology article related to traffic... and holy Bat Man! There are now search engines for cars! Who would have thought?

Actually, I know that there are GPS units in and on many cars but what I'm talking about here is something that's NOT optional... but appears to be Standard Equipment!

If you've read this particular post before, I had to come back and add in this paragraph... because... MY 20+ year old car does NOT have GPS. It does have a radio however (AM only) and I do have one of those things you can plug into your cell phone so you can talk and listen while driving and have BOTH hands on the steering wheel! I just wanted to clear that up...

That's right, FORD (YES, that big American Company, up in Michigan) has been testing and now I read that they have deployed these and I'm guessing that if not already... these systems will be in everything from the Focus on up to the top of the line by Spring.

So, you're asking what has me so excited? OK... you're driving along and you're getting sleepy and you ask yourself... Where's the nearest Starbucks? Instead, ask your system... by speaking to it... and it finds one for you and gives you turn by turn directions. How does it know?

First off, All these new Fords are GPS equipped and the system knows where YOU are! So it knows what area to look in for the nearest Starbucks for you. Or, if you want a pizza or a hamburger or whatever... just ask and that information is sent to you... all hands free so you're not using YOUR cell phone or PDA or whatever to look these addresses up.

The big deal here is that FORD see's this as a "make the customer happy" issue and also a BIG safety issue for their customers. If you can have your hands on the steering wheel and your eyes on the road instead of dialing your phone or texting... you're MUCH less likely to wind up in an accident... or at least that is the hope.

Want to read all about the "bells and whistles" of this system, just click the article's title above and it will whisk you right over to the blog where I found the article I mentioned earlier.

More neat car stuff soon,

A Great Source of Pollution FREE Mobility

We tend to think of our cars and trucks in terms of the sounds they make, especially if we're the "racing" kind of guys or gals. The light turns green and we want to hear that rumble that translates to being pressed back in the seat as we rush forward... Or do we?

There will be a day, and it may be sooner that YOU or I think... that will offer all of us a very quiet trip to the store, work or the playground (whatever that means to you or me).

Because our forefathers never conceived of the sheer volume of vehicles that come off production lines each year, from so many different companies on so many different continents... we have built what could be the end of us all... if we don't QUIT polluting the air with the emissions from petroleum product powered vehicles. Clean air is essential to OUR existence and clean air is getting tougher and tougher to find... so what's the fix?

One of the latest proposals I've found is the AIR CAR. That's right, cars that run on compressed air. Instead of using the pistons in the engine to do the compression... the air is already compressed in tanks and that compressed air runs the "engine" that powers the car. You can watch the video(s) on YouTube from our link below and make your own decisions... but for my own use, especially since most of my trips are much less than 200 miles, this little car would work perfectly... and contribute ZERO pollution to the air we breathe!

Does this sound exciting to you? Would this car compete in a racing programme? Is auto racing destined to the history books, as are many things that we once took for granted but may have to give up in order to survive on Planet Earth? Although I once drove a race car in the Sports Car racing circuit and enjoyed it immensely, it just seems like maybe racing and all the pollution that comes from the event (as a whole) may have to become a thing of the past. Any comments? They will be welcomed.

I hate to say it but... "I Told You So!"

Most of you have been enjoying the Lower gas prices lately... just like I have.

Have YOU listened to the news lately? Something OTHER THAN the buzz about the inauguration of the next president of the United States?

If YOU were listening this morning... to the financial news... the latest buzz is about the RISING price of gasoline!

That's right... the RISING price of gasoline! Read back a few months in my blog posts and I warned you that this would happen! And I suggested then that you should begin doing something to protect yourself when this eventually came to pass. Well, NOW would be a good time to get cracking and fix your vehicle so it gets at least DOUBLE the mileage that you're getting today!

That's right, Buy the book, READ IT, build and add the kit to your car, and you can at least double the mileage you're getting today! Maybe MORE?

And, if you're concerned about pollution, like you should be, you'll be glad to hear that you will have cut the pollution that YOUR vehicle produces by a HUGE amount!

By adding the Hydrogen from water to your intake and mixing that with the air and fuel from your tank, you'll increase the mileage, burn the fuel more completely and that will result in less emissions! Proven Fact at the Emissions Test Centers!

Don't wait for prices to go higher...

Get you book today and start building YOUR kit... or have your mechanic build and install it FOR you!

Happy Reading!

Gas Mileage, Fuel Prices and the Detroit Three

We made it through another Christmas and it would seem that the Detroit Three got the best present of all... a breath of fresh air from the White House!

The rest of us continue being gifted with lower and lower gas prices... as the guys over in the middle east try to figure out how to get the price of a barrel of oil out of the crapper.

If you believe that gas prices will stay this low for long... you probably believe in Santa Clause too! So, what will you do when gas prices go back up? NOW would be a GREAT time to start building (or have it built and installed for you) your own Water-for-Gas system.

It's really simple to do! And, when you see it working and observe the results... you'll kick yourself for not getting started sooner! That's right. My little Geo has always gotten at least 30 MPG with NO additional effort. Using Hyper-Miling techniques, I get 40 MPG with it. Honestly!

That's right, a stock car off the show room floor, in 1990, getting 40 MPG by driving smart. I do have GREAT tires, courtesy of The Tire Rack and I use Synthetic Oil in the engine, courtesy of The Amsoil Corporation... I installed a low restriction air filter that has a LIFETIME warranty (pay once and never again) and a complete tuned exhaust system from PaceSetter. Everything from the Head to the Chrome tip at the rear of the car!

I have NEVER had the engine open! I will have to take the valve cover off soon and replace the valve cover gasket as the old one is leaking like a sieve... but that's it!

YOU must get over to the Water-for-Gas website and buy the book. Just read it! You will be amazed at how simple it is to build and how you can get all the stuff you need easily. Much of it comes from your local hardware store or Radio Shack.

Now, the last point in today's post. I am a devoted NASCAR fan. I don't always agree with all the rulings that NASCAR hands down... (who does?) but I love Racing and especially NASCAR racing! Today I found a link to what's HOT for the future of NASCAR racing. One team is looking for Sponsors. Honestly... I would bet that there are a bunch of teams looking for sponsors with the way the economy has changed since the start of Last season. However, this team is looking for GREEN SPONSORS!

Green will equate to money, of course, for sponsorship of the car, driver, team, parts, etc... but the big deal is that the team wants sponsors that Promote, Sell, Build, Install or do/are GREEN! If you're a certified GREEN company, they want to hear from you! If you're a GREEN Company and need to get the word out to the public, this is a FANTASTIC opportunity! Go to the website and look at the numbers. What numbers? Look at how many people attend the average race. How many people watch at home on TV? How many people watch re-runs? YOU will be seen if you sponsor this car! It WILL get extra attention just because of the fact that it will be sponsored by ALL GREEN sponsors! Get involved!

That's about it for this post. Have a Safe and Sane New Year's celebration and I'll see you in 2009!

Sincerely,

Dave Perkins

Will the "Detroit Three" survive

This week has seen the "Detroit Three," who used to be called the "Big Three," begging Congress to save their bacon. Yet, the CEO's scoot down to Washington in their big corporate jets, live a life of luxury and expect US (you and me) to pick up the tab!

My first response is not only NO but HELL NO! I look at how the heads of HUGE companies in other countries (like Japan) have cut their salaries (I'm thinking here of the CEO of Japan Airlines 'JAL') and others so that their companies can survive. Plus, it sets one heck of an example to all the companies that provide the myriad component parts and assemblies that make up an airliner and to all the companies involved in keeping an airline running!

The next thing that fries my bacon is how the UNIONS have really stuck their hands out for a lot more than I see as a fair share. There was a time... when Unions were really necessary. And there still may be some use for them... but all those HIGH paid executives can also take a HUGE cut in pay if they want me in THEIR corner. Otherwise, I say tell the UNIONS to "Take a hike!"

Here's how I SEE the unions...

You may disagree but I believe the cartoonist nailed this one right on the head!

We'll see, in the coming days, whether our money is given away or not. I, for one, hope that it does NOT happen!

Hypermiling with Dave... in a 20 year old car!

Oh yes, my car always (even in the city) gets more than 30 miles per gallon...

Timing is everything!

In my last post I mentioned that everyone should get prepared for winter... Well, it is abundantly clear to me that many did not read and or heed that admontion!

This past Saturday, here in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area we had a little bit of snow! It's important that you catch the drift (pun intended) that there was only a LITTLE bit of snow. The wind blew fiercely and absolutely none of the county road crews had any idea that they needed to be out spreading some salt... but they should have!

By the time I had to go home from work, (Yes, I work on the weekends!) what normally takes me 30 minutes in travel time took me 90 minutes. It would have taken longer if I had not gotten off the clogged interstate highway that saw traffic lumbering along at a brisk 5 miles per hour pace! The back roads were somewhat slippery but with reduced traffic I could at least follow the slower folks who were at least doing 30 MPH!

The problems? Bald tires and defective wipers... and of course, people following too close and talking on cell phones instead of paying attention to where they SHOULD have been driving... and there were a LOT of accidents! Many of them were multiple car accidents which reduced the travel lanes severely!

This was just a warning snow! Less than ONE inch of it! And traffic almost came to a stand-still.

How long are YOU going to wait to get YOUR new Tires and Wiper Blades? How about your Turn Signals, Brake Lights and Headlights? Do they all work properly? Get them fixed promptly and save both you and someone you don't want to meet some major expense with an accident you can avoid!

Where to get the best deal on Tires and Wiper blades? Click HERE to get the best deal on the Internet today!

More soon...
