Attention! If you have ever been told to let some of the air out of your tires to get better "traction" in mud or snow... you were the recipient of bad information.
The latest news regarding tire pressure and driving in and or on Mud & Snow is to keep your tires PROPERLY inflated! Manufacturers suggest that if you expect to be driving on uncleared roads that are either excessively muddy or one that is covered in a big layer of snow... you should opt for REAL Snow Tires and maybe have a set of chains with you, should they become necessary.
If you live in a metropolitan area that has "respectable" snow plowing, a good set of Mud & Snow rated tires should be just fine. And keep the pressure set properly. Underinflating your tires exposes your tire to a "GREATER" chance of being damaged! And as expensive as tires are... we can't afford that! So keep them aired up properly at all times.
Happy Holidays
